The Reform UK leader Claims Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”
In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”
The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.
At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
