Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of the antagonist.
