The Scottish side kicked off their European campaign in perfect fashion with a crucial four-try away victory against Sale Sharks.

Taking advantage of the wind at their backs, the hosts began strongly and raced to a fourteen-point lead within the first quarter. Scores from the Sale skipper and youngster Ollie Davies gave them early control.

However, Glasgow responded well with a pair of scores before the interval. Forward Gregor Hiddleston and flanker Rory Darge both crossed to reduce the gap.

Additional after the break tries from Kyle Steyn and Stafford McDowall extended the Warriors' lead to twelve points. Marius Louw's try for Sale set up a tense finish, but Glasgow stood strong to secure a significant opening victory.

Warriors Take Control After Interval

Play started with a quick try as Sale captain Ernst van Rhyn scored from close range after only two minutes. An early knock to midfielder Rekeiti Ma'asi-White introduced 19-year-old Davies into the action for his cup debut.

The youngster made an immediate impact. Moving to fly-half, he ran a smart support line to take an offload and score, extending the home side's lead.

Against difficult conditions, Glasgow turned to their set-piece to get back into the game. A strong line-out drive was touched down by hooker Gregor Hiddleston. Just before the half, Darge barged over, with Hastings' conversion making it a two-point deficit at the interval.

Glasgow took the advantage for the first occasion early in the second half. A poor kick was gathered by No. 8 Dempsey, who set up skipper Steyn to break a tackle and sprint to the line.

Now in the driving seat, they clinched the bonus point when McDowall ran through a defender to score his century for the team. That score completed a sequence of twenty-six consecutive points.

The hosts gave themselves a lifeline when Marius Louw used good skills to cross. The kick made it a five-point game with time remaining.

A final chance arose for them from a throw in the corner, but they failed to secure the possession, sealing the Warriors' triumph.

What's Next?

Sale Sharks must bounce back ahead of a journey to face Clermont Auvergne this weekend. In contrast, Glasgow will host six-time winners Toulouse to Scotstoun.

Both sides are placed in a competitive Pool One that also includes Saracens and South African team the Sharks.
