Ex- Physician Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities report that a former doctor has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
